The High Desert Tumalo Ranch Rumpus Room

Welcome to one of my favorite spots in our home—what we lovingly call the “rumpus room.” This space has quickly become the heart of our evenings at the ranch. After long days filled with client meetings, designing, and the usual hustle and bustle, it’s the place where we can unwind and relax as a family. Whether we’re watching a movie, curling up with a good book, or enjoying a well-deserved cocktail, this cozy corner has it all! It’s truly a space that balances comfort and style, perfect for those much-needed slow, lingering moments at the end of the day.

For those of you inspired by this space, we’ve pulled together a guide to help you shop the look! While some of the pieces—like our custom sofa from Moss Home—were specifically designed for this room, we’ve taken the time to curate high-quality alternatives that will give you the same warm, relaxed vibe. From the soft, inviting textiles to the rich wood accents, we’ve chosen every detail with the intention of creating a room where we feel at home, and we hope you can do the same in your own space.

As I mentioned earlier, we opted for a custom sofa to perfectly fit the unique shape of this room. We had fun mixing textures and prints. But, if you're looking for a simpler alternative, this option still delivers that same cozy vibe.

This rug is from the same vendor as the one we have in this space, and it comes in many colorways and sizes. We can’t recommend these rugs enough! They really ground the room and create a rich, moody, color-drenched vibe.
Oversize Brown Kilim Rug

I’m really loving this piece from Amazon. Anything with reclaimed wood is perfect for bringing those outdoor elements inside. The mix of light wood and industrial metal accents strikes a nice balance. It’s a great way to add a natural yet rustic touch to any space.
Reclaimed Pine Wood Console Table

Plaid pillows are definitely a favorite of mine. We’re huge fans of this print by Kettlewell Collection, and love how effortlessly it pairs with solid colors or even other bold patterns. It adds a cozy, layered look that’s versatile for any space.

This custom pillow is easily one of our favorites! Another print by Kettlewell Collection is timeless and versatile—it works in just about any room or setting. The vintage inspired floral is small scale making it a great partner with other larger scale patterns like plaid or tribal.

The secret's out! Our drapery may look high-end, but these linen panels are actually around $100—talk about a steal. And, the quality and texture are seriously impressive for the price. Plus, the way the sunlight filters through them during golden hour creates a warm, dreamy atmosphere. The key is to buy drapery pins to create your own triple pleat. It's time consuming, but worth it for the savings!

This table has been with us forever, and for good reason! It's the perfect size to move around whenever needed. And, the two tiers are handy for displaying décor on the bottom shelf.

Dainty botanical prints are a must-have for your gallery wall collection. I promise they look great with just about anything and will always elevate the room. Good art is totally worth the investment!

How did I even find this online? Honestly, I’m not sure. But we’ve had a version of this print for over 10 years, and it's easily my most asked-about piece of art. Its size is perfect for spanning an entire wall, and it always looks stunning and luxe!

Our sofa is practically a pillow paradise, if you haven’t noticed! If you're looking to add a splash of color or a trendy geometric pattern, give this a try.

You can’t go wrong with a scalloped tray. It’s super versatile, and looks especially great on top of an upholstered ottoman. It'll brighten up any room.

Large decorative objects are perfect for sparking conversations and filling up big open spaces. If you're unsure which pieces to pair, go for one standout statement piece like this!
Antique Giant Clam Shell

These are awesome for extra seating when you need it. And, they also double as stylish décor. Stow under a console when short on space.
Metal Accent Stool

Our chairs actually belonged to my parents, but we had them reupholstered for a fresh look. The high back and arm rests make these super essential for lounging. Love the pop of salmon pink.

Since there’s no overhead lighting in this room, we went with these brass sconces. They give off a lovely warm glow, and have a vintage-inspired feel that blends perfectly with the room's vibe.

This is our go-to when it comes to iron curtain rods. We mentioned this vendor in a previous week's post. And, we had all our hardware sourced from them and are pleasantly surprised with the quality. CH stamp of approval. They were super helpful in answering our questions. Each was made to order, yet quick to deliver!

When we created our Design Guides, it wasn’t about offering a “budget workaround” or a one-size-fits-all look. We built them using the same exact process we use for our clients and our own homes.
Because the goal has never been to make your home look like ours. Or anyone else’s.
Your lifestyle is unique. Your space is unique. And your home should feel that way too.
What we are noticing lately is this:
Most people know the vibe they’re drawn to... but get stuck when it comes to decision-making.
What to actually buy. How big it should be. How to mix styles without it feeling chaotic. How to commit and not second-guess every choice.
So we’re toying with the idea of taking the guides a step further. Diving deeper into how to implement the styles, how to mix and match them, and sharing more of the behind-the-scenes designer thinking that usually stays in client work.
Would that be helpful? Would you want more guidance beyond just the shop links?
If you’re curious about our Design Guides (or want us to explain them further), comment ‘GUIDE’ and I’ll send you the link.
Designing your own home while running a business is a very specific kind of chaos. Timelines stretch, things get put on the back burner, and progress happens in tiny waves. There’s no rule book for this (as a personal project) and I’m constantly reminding myself that nothing is wrong just because it’s slow.
These videos are my way of zooming out. Because the truth is... we’ve come so far. Even when it doesn’t feel finished yet, even when rooms are still a few months away from being fully usable, there’s so much happening under the surface. This is creativity doing its work. And I’m trying to leave stress behind and actually enjoy watching it unfold.
Designing for our homes is one of my favorite things to do, but also the hardest. When it’s your space, you have a million ideas, a million things you want to try, and no one else to blame if you change your mind. But that freedom is the magic. I love client work, truly, but there’s something so special about not having to defend every decision or worry about someone second-guessing the vision.
This is how design is supposed to feel: trusting a direction, letting it evolve, not taking it so seriously that you squeeze the life out of it. When you collaborate instead of control, when you give the process room to breathe, that’s when the real Clouz Houz look shows up.
We say it often (and we’ll keep saying it!) because it’s the most essential piece of creating a home you truly love: it should be a reflection of you. The most timeless spaces aren’t just beautiful, they’re personal. They carry your story, your rhythm, your values. That’s what makes a house feel like home.
Ready to love where you live? We’re now accepting new clients for Q1 of 2026.
