Oh Hey Highlands Project Reveal

Wow, you guys—this project has been four years in the making. I can hardly believe we’re finally sharing the reveal with you! If you’ve been following along, you’ve probably seen some sneak peeks here and there. But, this is our first official walkthrough of the Oh Hey Highlands project, and let me tell you, it’s a special one.

This home, located in the Highlands neighborhood of Tetherow in Bend, Oregon, is such a beauty. We’ve spent years thinking through every detail—over 7,000 square feet of space that needed to feel warm and inviting, but also grand and elegant. It’s a mountain modern dream, with an open floor plan that’s all about creating spaces to gather and make memories. And let’s be real, when a home is in Bend surrounded by those incredible views, you know it has to rise to the occasion.

The Vision

Our clients had a vision for their new home. They wanted it to be a space for hosting—family weekends, visiting friends, big gatherings—and of course, gamedays. (They’re huge Ducks fans, and yes, those green custom sofas are as amazing as they sound. Go Ducks!) We imagined this space filled with laughter, good food, and lots of cozy moments, so every piece was chosen with that in mind.

Honestly, I feel like this house was such a journey for us—not just in designing it, but in working closely with our clients to bring their vision to life. I learn from every project, and this one was no exception. We worked diligently to design custom furniture that fit the bill for lots of use, but was equally as beautiful. In addition, we walked a fine line between texture and color, and needed the rooms to feel interesting without being busy.  We wanted this space to feel effortless, but also deeply personal.

This reveal focuses on the living and entry spaces which set the tone for the whole home. I can’t wait to show you how it all came together, and share some of the moments and decisions that made this project so special. Let’s dive in!

The Entryway: First Impressions Done Right

Walking through the glass-paneled metal doors of this home feels like stepping into something truly special. They’re heavy—like really heavy—but that weight adds a feeling of quality and permanence. We wanted the entry to make a statement right away, setting the tone for a home that’s both modern and welcoming. These doors were the perfect starting point.

Creating a Thoughtful Gallery Moment

Once inside, the entry opens up into a bright, airy space that feels like the perfect opportunity to create a little “moment.” We wanted something that would catch your eye right away, but still feel functional and approachable. By placing modern wall sconces on opposing walls, we instantly create the perfect spot for artwork to be on display in an elevated way. The homeowners can hang their most beautiful pieces flanked by these sconces. We installed this Kader Boly painting that we found at a local furniture and décor store, Borgo Rosati. This is one of our favorite places in town to source beautiful items when we style spaces!

To ground the artwork, we chose a slim vintage wooden bench. I love using benches in entryways—they’re practical for tossing your bag down or taking off your shoes. And, they also add this understated charm. The one we selected has just the right amount of patina to make it feel like it’s been there forever. This adds a sense of history and character to the space.

The Console & Mirror: Reflecting Functionality and Elegance

Directly across from the bench, we styled a console table to add depth and balance. We wanted this area to feel layered and collected, like it had been built up over time. The console itself has a beautiful, slightly curved design that feels soft and inviting. We then paired it with two flanking chairs for symmetry. These chairs are more than just decorative—they’re perfect for guests to perch while putting on shoes or waiting to head out the door.

On the console, we layered in sculptural lamps, woven baskets for texture, and a hand-carved wooden sculpture that feels unique and a little unexpected. Above it all is the oversized mirror, which might be one of my favorite pieces in the space. Mirrors in entryways are such a game-changer—they bounce light around, make the space feel bigger, and add a touch of elegance without trying too hard. Plus, they’re functional! Who doesn’t love a quick glance on the way out the door?

The Living Room: A Space Designed For Connection

This living room was designed with entertainment at its core. From the moment you step in, it’s clear this is a space meant for people to gather, linger, and feel completely at ease. With soaring two-story vaulted ceilings, the scale of the room is impressive. However, we wanted to insure that it felt inviting and grounded. That’s why we divided the space into zones—one for those who want to relax and watch TV, and another for conversations and quiet moments.

Two Coffee Tables for Endless Gatherings

One of my favorite decisions for this space was incorporating two coffee tables. The room is so expansive that one simply wouldn’t have done it justice. The pair of natural wood tables anchors the seating areas, creating a central hub that feels intentional and functional. We wanted to create a space for this family of five to all be together, playing games, watching tv or just sitting by the fire — and yet be able to do all at the same time if they choose!

The earthy tones of the wood balance beautifully with the rich velvety green sofas from Moss Home and the rich saddle brown leather chairs we found on sale at Rejuvenation. This makes the whole space feel like it’s been pulled straight from nature.

A Project Inspired by Nature: Earthy Tones and Textures

Let’s talk about those green sofas! Velvet has a way of elevating a space, and in this deep green, it adds a bold yet soothing touch. Paired with the warm leather chairs, it’s a color palette that feels timeless and rooted in the outdoors, which was a big inspiration for this home. We wanted the materials and tones to echo the beauty of the Central Oregon landscape right outside those big windows.

The Show-Stopping Fireplace Wall

The fireplace wall is the true centerpiece of this room, and honestly, it’s nothing short of show-stopping. Scaling up to the vaulted ceilings, we chose a stone from Merrillstone that was designed in collaboration with Shea McGee from Studio McGee. One of the most intentional choices we made here was to avoid placing a TV above the fireplace. Instead, we opted for unique art that allows the fireplace to shine as the focal point. The bookshelves on either side add even more visual interest. And, while they’re massive, I intentionally left some spaces empty. It’s all about balance—letting your eye rest and admire the individual pieces rather than feeling overwhelmed by too much.

The Details That Make the Room

Filling these shelves was a fun challenge. We used a mix of sculptural pieces, handmade pots, and organic forms to tie in the earthy vibe of the space. One of the most unexpected additions? A massive faux olive tree — another find from Borgo Rosati! Its scale was key to balancing out the height of the ceilings, and it adds so much life to the room. It’s like the room needed a vertical anchor to feel complete, and this tree was just the thing. Don’t underestimate the power of something green (whether live or faux) either! It is essential to bring life to any space.

This living room isn’t just a place to sit—it’s a space that invites you to settle in, connect, and stay a while. From the thoughtful layering of textures to the mix of bold and subtle elements, every detail was designed with intention. It’s a room that feels grand yet approachable, elegant yet comfortable. And, most importantly, it’s perfect for making memories for years to come.

Lifestyle

The December Edit:
Winter’s Cozy Layers

As winter settles in here at Bend, there’s a natural shift. It’s like the world slows down, and suddenly everything feels softer, more cozy, and a little more magical. The frost on the windows, the shorter days, the desire to wrap yourself in layers … it all inspires us to make home feel like the ultimate retreat.

In this December Edit, I’m leaning into all the things that bring warmth and texture. We love plush throws you can’t resist curling up with, vintage-inspired wood accents that add character, and moody hues like deep reds that feel festive without being over the top. After all, it’s about layering in a way that feels intentional but still relaxed, like you didn’t try too hard. But, it just works.

For me, this season is less about perfection and more about creating little moments. Enjoy soft lighting from candles, a cozy corner that’s all yours, or pulling out something special you’ve had for years and giving it new life. And that’s the vibe behind this edit: effortless, warm, and a little nostalgic, with pieces that make your space and your winter feel extra special.

Color of the Month: Refectory Red

There’s something about a bold red like Refectory Red that feels timeless and daring all at once. After all, i’s not the kind of color you casually choose. It’s intentional, a statement that speaks to confidence and creativity in design. From the deVOL palette, this rich, warm hue carries a depth that immediately draws you in — bold without being flashy, classic without feeling dated.

I love the idea of using this color on cabinetry. Kitchens so often lean toward neutrals, like soft whites, grays, and muted greens. But, a color like Refectory Red takes the space to a whole new level. Imagine it paired with marble countertops and unlacquered brass hardware, or offset by rustic wood tones for a mix of modern and vintage charm.

Beyond cabinetry, I keep dreaming of other possibilities for this shade. Think a cozy library with floor-to-ceiling shelving painted in this rich red, filled with well-loved books and styled with warm brass accents. Or, even a bold front door that makes an instant impression, especially during the holiday season when red just feels right.

What makes Refectory Red so cool from a design perspective is how adaptable it is. Pair it with deep greens or navy, and it takes on a regal, traditional vibe. Pair it with crisp whites or softer neutrals, and it feels fresh and contemporary. It’s versatile but unapologetic—a color that commands attention without overwhelming the space.

For anyone nervous about using a bold hue like this, I’d say start small—a piece of furniture, a pantry door, even an accent wall. Once you see how much character it brings, you might just find yourself painting entire cabinets, confident that this color will hold its own for years to come.

Statement Pieces: The Ones That Steal Your Heart and Anchor a Room

  1. Portuguese Wooden Bench
This bench immediately makes me think of an old farmhouse—something that’s seen decades of life and holds stories in every scratch and knot in the wood. It’s perfect for your entryway perfect for stashing boots under, or by the fireplace with a cozy throw casually draped over it.
  2. Louis Vuitton Trunk
I love how a vintage trunk brings that “collected over time” look to a space. Use it as a coffee table, with a few art books and a tray for candles, or place it at the end of a bed to store extra blankets and throws. The leather details and hardware add richness, and it’s a piece you can pass down—it’s timeless in every way.
  3. Iron and Marble Console Table
This table is for those moments when you want your home to feel effortless but polished. Picture it styled with greenery spilling over the edge, a few candles for ambiance, and maybe even a bowl filled with ornaments or pinecones. It’s slim and subtle but packs a design punch.

Holiday

Holiday Outfit Ideas:
You’ll Be the Best-Dressed at Every Gathering

The holidays are my favorite time to get dressed—not because I’m chasing trends or trying to be over the top, but because the season invites us to celebrate and a reason for getting dressed up! It’s the crisp air, the twinkling lights, the way everything feels just a little more magical. And with that, even the simple act of picking an outfit feels a little more meaningful.

I’ve always believed that what you wear sets the tone for how you feel. It’s not about impressing others but about stepping into the season with intention. Whether it’s a big family gathering, a quick dinner with friends, or just a night spent curled up at home with hot cocoa, having pieces in your wardrobe that feel effortless yet elevated can make all the difference.

This year, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite pieces that carry me through all the moments the holidays throw at us. Think sparkle, comfort, and versatility—because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the most authentic outfits make you feel your best. Let’s dive in.

Foundational Pieces That Work Overtime

Let’s start with the building blocks—pieces that serve as the backbone of your wardrobe. I always gravitate toward items that can mix and match effortlessly and create multiple looks with minimal effort.

First up, leather pants. If you’ve been hesitant to try them, let me tell you—hit checkout on that pair you’ve been eyeing in your cart! I can’t even explain how leather pants have somehow taken over as my holiday staple. They’ve officially outshined my jeans—and honestly, every time I’m scrambling to throw an outfit together, they just work. Every. Single. Time. They instantly elevate any outfit without feeling too fussy. Pair them with a festive blouse for a family brunch or throw on a cozy sweater and velvet flats for running errands in style. Leather pants are that perfect mix of edgy and classic, and they work equally well with casual and dressy pieces.

Then there’s the black shift dress. And I’m not kidding when I say that a little black dress truly have a million different ways that it can be styled. It’s the ultimate go-to for the holidays because it’s endlessly versatile. Heading to a dinner party? Add a pair of sparkly heels and silver earrings. You’ll be the best-dressed gal in the room 🙂 Running late to a casual get-together? Layer it with a faux fur jacket and riding boots for a polished but approachable look. I love how a simple dress can act as a blank canvas, letting your accessories or outerwear take center stage.

Finally, you can’t go wrong with a classic plaid blouse. It’s festive without being over the top, and pairs beautifully with leather pants or even just your favorite fitting denim. I just bought this one and I’m excited to pair it with a comfy pair of pants on Thanksgiving day. It’s great for just lounging around the house, but also gives you that extra ‘oomph’ for seasonal vibes.

Elevated Essentials for Special Moments

The holidays are the perfect time to lean into pieces that feel a little more special. One of my absolute favorites is a sequined dress. Whether it’s for a cocktail party or New Year’s Eve, this piece makes an instant statement. Then, keep the rest of the look simple—maybe a sleek blazer draped over your shoulders and minimal jewelry—so the dress really shines. Bonus: it’s surprisingly versatile. You can even dress it down with a pair of black boots for an unexpected twist.

Speaking of boots, I’m obsessed with black riding boots this season. They’re equestrian chic at its best, and so practical for winter weather. Try pairing them with dresses, or layering them over skinny jeans. They add just enough edge to an outfit while still feeling timeless. Attention all my tall ladies who want to feel dressy but don’t want to commit to a heel … these are just as stunning but a million times more comfortable!!

And, I have to mention my sparkly heels with the asymmetric bow—my go-to for adding a touch of glamour. These shoes are perfect for holiday gatherings, but also work year-round. I’ve worn them with everything from jeans and a sweater to a satin skirt.

Accessories That Do the Heavy Lifting

Accessories are where you can really have fun and make your outfits feel festive. This brown Sezane purse, for example, is my current favorite on my wishlist. It’s a subtle way to add a pop of seasonal color without going overboard. Also love using accessories to tie my look together—think velvet flats for comfort and charm or silver earrings for a touch of elegance. I usually love mixing gold and silver jewelry, but this year I’m gravitating to only silver pieces. They feel classier during the holidays!

Clouz Houz tip: Let’s not forget the importance of staying warm without sacrificing style. This is possibly my greatest hack that I have to offer you in this post: Fleece-lined tights have been a lifesaver for me during the chilly months. What’s so cool about these is that they are lined with a nude color, so they give the illusion of sheer tights but definitely don’t feel like it. They’re perfect for pairing with dresses or skirts when you don’t want to compromise on style. Couldn’t gate keep that one any longer … you’re welcome!!

Mixing Textures to Create Interest

One of my favorite ways to make holiday outfits feel thoughtful and elevated is by mixing textures. For example, pairing a cozy plaid blouse with sleek leather pants creates just the right amount of contrast. Or a crocodile printed bag with a faux fur jacket. The key is to stick to a cohesive color palette—like black, brown, or deep winter hues—so the textures don’t compete with each other. Mixing textures is my favorite part of putting together an outfit. Maybe that’s just the interior designer inside of me beaming with excitement but I believe doing something unexpected and visually interesting can elevate any look!

Dressed for Function and Comfort

At the heart of it, getting dressed for the holidays is about more than just looking good—it’s about feeling good, too. The holidays are busy, often chaotic, but filled with the little moments that make it all worth it. Your outfit should support you in fully embracing those moments, not distract you from them.

Whether it’s jeans you can truly relax in, layers that keep you cozy without overheating, or shoes that let you move effortlessly through the day, dressing for function and comfort is key. You want to be the best-dressed gal in the room! The right choices don’t just make you look polished; they help you stay present. And isn’t that the best gift of all?

As the holiday season unfolds, I hope you find yourself reaching for pieces that make you feel at ease and allow you to soak in every moment—whether it’s a bustling family dinner, a quiet cup of coffee in the morning light, or a joyful toast to the year ahead. Let your wardrobe work for you, so you can focus on what really matters. Cheers! 🥂

Bedroom

The Secret to a Perfectly Layered Winter Bed: 5 Must-Haves

Winter is here in Bend, friends—frosty mornings, dark evenings, and the undeniable urge to make every corner of your home as cozy as possible. I don’t know about you, but just writing this has me tempted to retreat right back under the covers! And honestly, isn’t that one of the best parts of winter? That extra permission to slow down and just be? Add a cup of tea and a Netflix binge, and I’m set.

Here’s the thing: we spend roughly one-third of our lives in bed. One-third! Let that sink in. So, if your bedroom feels like it has been “on the back burner,” I’m here to gently nudge you into giving it a little TLC. I totally get it—clients always tell me, “I just haven’t gotten to my bedroom yet,” but this space matters. A lot. It’s where your day starts and ends, and it should feel like a personal retreat, one that greets you warmly every night and inspires you to take on the day every morning.

For me, there’s no greater joy than curling up in a warm, layered bed when the temperatures drop. It’s like my own little hibernation nest, and the best part? Making your bedroom winter-ready doesn’t mean a full-blown makeover. It’s all about the layers—simple, thoughtful touches that bring warmth, texture, and comfort. And good news for anyone dealing with throw pillow wars (hi, husbands): the trend right now is less is more. Minimalism, but make it cozy. Fewer pillows, more plush blankets, and a vibe that invites you to stay just a little longer. Perfect, right?

P.S. If you’re new around here—welcome! I’m so glad you’ve found your way to Clouz Houz. If you’re as obsessed with all things interior design as I am (and maybe a little bit nosy about what others are pinning, buying, and dreaming up), then you’re in the right place. The Art of Layering: Building the Perfect Bed

Let’s be real—the bed is the main event in any bedroom, especially in the winter. When it comes to layering, I say the more, the merrier. Think of it like putting together a cozy little cocoon. For me, it’s all about having quality sheets, a quilt, a duvet, and a blanket or throw on top. Not only does it look extra inviting, but it gives you options—you can peel back layers or pile them on depending on how cold it gets.

And flannel sheets? Don’t get me started. Swapping out regular sheets for flannel is my ultimate winter hack. The kids love it, too—it’s like a seasonal tradition in our house when flannel season officially begins. There’s just something about climbing into a bed that feels warm and ready for hibernation that hits differently.

Here’s the simple formula:

  • Soft mattress pad (because extra cushion is never a bad thing).
  • Fitted and top sheet—the basics.
  • Quilt or bed blanket for that cozy texture.
  • Duvet—the fluffier, the better.
  • A throw blanket for naps or just to make it look good.

Mixing Materials: Texture is Everything

When it comes to creating a cozy bed, it’s all about the textures. For me, sheets are the foundation—usually cotton or linen. Right now, I’m loving sets from Boll & Branch and Quince. Linen is more of a summer vibe for me, so as we head into winter, I’m swapping them out for something warmer like cotton or flannel. If switching things up sounds like too much work, you can’t go wrong with buying two sets of the same cotton sheets—they’ll work year-round and always feel great.

Next comes the quilt or blanket layer. I spent way too much time debating what to use in our new bedroom because there are so many amazing options out there. I finally landed on a quilt from Studio McGee—it’s got just enough pattern to keep things interesting but still fits into the overall palette. What I love is how versatile it is—it works beautifully layered with a chunky bed blanket in the winter (I’ve been eyeing this one) and can easily stand alone in the warmer months.

Pro Tip: I recently found these pillows on Amazon for our sleeping pillows, and I’m obsessed. I’m super picky about pillows—they can’t be too flat or too fluffy—and these hit the sweet spot. Highly recommend if you’re as particular as I am!

Cozy Colors: Bring the Outdoors In

For winter, I love leaning into warm, earthy tones that make a room feel like a little sanctuary. When the skies are gray, bringing that sense of warmth indoors just feels right. Think chestnut browns, rich greens, and soft oatmeals—they create a grounding, calming vibe that instantly makes your space feel like a cozy cocoon. It’s like inviting nature inside, but without the frostbite.

If you’re feeling bold, patterns are a great way to add some personality. A plaid blanket, striped pillow, or even a subtle floral can bring a little life to the room without going overboard. I’m a sucker for those small details that tie everything together, and yes, I’ve already pulled a few favorites that totally nail this palette.

The best part? These colors and textures are timeless, so even when spring rolls around, you’ll still love how they feel in your space.

Details That Make a Difference

Let’s talk about the little things that truly pull a bedroom together. First up: an upholstered headboard. There’s something about it that instantly makes a space feel cozier and more polished. It’s like the finishing touch you didn’t know you needed. The texture, the softness—it creates warmth in a way that feels effortless. I’ve been eyeing a few headboards for clients lately, like this one and this one. They’re classic but have just enough of an edge to keep things interesting (and timeless—my favorite combo).

Another detail that makes a difference? The throw blanket. If you’re anything like us, and your pets are basically honorary family members who claim the bed as their own, having a few inexpensive, washable throws is a must. Target always has great options, but if you’re looking for something a little extra, I love this one or this one (and it’s even on sale right now!) They’re practical but still bring in that cozy vibe.

And finally, accent pillows. The trend right now is simpler is better, so instead of piling on pillows, opt for one long bolster pillow like this. It adds just the right amount of visual interest without overwhelming the bed. Sometimes, less really is more.

***

It’s not about doing a complete overhaul; it’s about layering thoughtfully, mixing textures, and adding details that feel personal and warm. Your bedroom should be a space that feels like you—a place where you can relax, recharge, and escape the chill outside. So grab a throw, fluff those pillows, and make your bed the coziest spot in the house. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself every frosty morning!

Holiday

Holiday Entertaining: Fun for the Hostess Too!

Alright, so let’s set the scene. Picture this: the house is filled with the cozy, rich aroma of French Onion Soup bubbling away on the stove, the kind that makes you want to curl up with a blanket while it does its thing. You’re sipping on a fizzy Pomegranate French 75 (our twist on the classic) that’s as festive as it is tasty. And, you’re about to put the finishing touches on an easy-but-elegant cake that will have everyone thinking you spent all afternoon baking (spoiler: you didn’t). This is what holiday entertaining looks like around here—a little rustic, very laid-back, and somehow still a little fancy. 🌟

If you’re anything like me, you’re not looking to recreate some perfectly styled magazine dinner party. You want the kind of get-together where people feel at home, where the food is as comforting as it is drool-worthy, and where you can actually enjoy yourself without running back and forth from the kitchen all night. These recipes are my go-to’s because they deliver on all fronts—delicious, festive, and low-key enough to keep things stress-free. This is entertaining at its easiest.

I’m no food blogger, but when I find recipes that make people swoon, I have to share. This French Onion Soup, for example, is pure cozy-in-a-bowl, and that Pom French 75? Let’s just say it’s the cocktail you didn’t know you needed this season. And the cake design? It’s all about keeping it simple yet special, perfect for those of us who are not professional bakers but still want to wow a crowd.

So here’s to cozy nights, good food, and gatherings that feel as effortless as they are memorable. Grab a glass, turn up the music, and let’s get this holiday hosting started!

First Up: French Onion Soup

This one is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser (courtesy of The Original Dish)—and it’s all about the slow cook. I’m talking up to 4 hours longer than the recipe actually calls for (is that a tip? or just my own obsession with letting it simmer to perfection?). Personally, I think the extra time makes a huge difference—it’s one of those recipes that just gets better with every added hour.

There’s something so comforting about French Onion Soup. It feels a bit fancy but still rustic, like the ultimate cozy meal without needing a ton of skill to pull off. Sure, it takes some patience, but once you get that slow cook going, it’s really just about letting the flavors develop on their own.

This is one of those recipes I’ll be celebrating all winter long. Starting now, leading right up to the holidays and even afterward, it’s on repeat over here. It’s the perfect way to make the house feel warm and inviting, and it’s satisfying … every single time. Click here for the recipe!

Next Up: Pomegranate French 75

Let’s bring some sparkle to the table! This Pomegranate French 75 is my little twist on a classic, and honestly, I’m all about it. There’s something about a spritzy cocktail that just gets you holiday ready. Maybe it’s the bubbles (they genuinely improve your mood), or maybe it’s the way this drink looks as vibrant as it tastes. Either way, it’s a go-to for holiday gatherings.

This cocktail is an absolute winner for a few reasons: it’s easy to make, has just the right balance of tart and sweet, and it looks stunning in a glass. You can mix up a big batch and simply top off each glass with champagne as guests arrive—instant holiday entertaining magic, with minimal effort.

Finally: The Cake

Alright, here’s the real secret to my holiday dessert hack. I picked up this cake from Safeway! Yep, sometimes the easiest solution is the best one. And, honestly, Safeway knows what they’re doing in the cake department. I’m all about keeping it simple and not stressing over making everything from scratch. Save yourself the time where you can, trust me.

Here’s where it gets fun—customizing the cake decoration. (Why not go all out when you’re entertaining?) I like to go with a vanilla frosting base because that white backdrop is perfect for a little DIY flair. Grab a couple of pomegranates and a pack of fresh thyme. Now here’s the trick: use the pomegranate seeds as little “berries” or “flowers” and trim the thyme sprigs to act as delicate stems. You’ll end up with this intricate, almost floral design that’s holiday-ready without being overdone.

I know, the cake decoration is a bit time-consuming. But, it’s so worth it for that “wow” moment when you place it on the table and everyone ooo’s and ahhh’s! Give it a go, make it your own, and if you do, please send me pics. I’d love to see how it turns out! 🎂

***

And, there you have it friends! A few of my favorite recipes and tips to make holiday entertaining feel special — without the stress. From the cozy warmth of that long-simmered French Onion Soup to the bubbly cheer of a Pomegranate French 75, and yes, even a store-bought cake made to look like a masterpiece—we’re all about finding little ways to elevate the moment.

Remember, hosting isn’t about perfection; it’s about making memories, sharing good food, and letting yourself actually enjoy the night, too. So go easy on yourself, embrace a few shortcuts (thank you, Safeway!), and get ready for a season of gatherings that feel effortless and festive.

Here’s to cozy meals, good company, and all the little moments that make the holidays feel like magic. Can’t wait to hear about your gatherings and see how you make these ideas your own. Cheers!

A designer bag is always a good idea. This rich suede beauty is timeless. I know it would be a welcome addition to my wardrobe … hint, hint (Derrick, if you’re reading this 😂) Speaking from a girl who doesn’t buy herself handbags often, I would be head over heels to receive such a luxurious item.
    5. Martini Glasses with Olive Embellishment

Thoughtful Gifts: Treasures from the Heart

While luxurious gifts make for unforgettable unwrapping moments, sometimes the most meaningful gestures are the ones that come from the heart. We believe that thoughtful gifts have a way of lasting, touching deeper than any high-ticket item. These are the ones that linger. They feel more personal, crafted with love, and chosen with the recipient’s unique spirit in mind. And, they remind us that sometimes, it’s the simple things that make life beautiful.

I’ll never forget a Christmas where I was struggling with something unique for Derrick. I decided to buy a set of wine glasses for our bar, and in each glass I added a hand-written note with “sweet somethings.” There were memories through the years, things I loved the most about him, personal jokes, etc. To this day, he talks about how much he loved that gift! So, don’t think you have to break the bank to make the holidays special. Dive deep with your feelings and give the gift of thoughtfulness.

  1. A Handwritten Letter
It’s amazing how far words can go. After all, a letter from the heart can mean more than anything bought in a store! It’s a moment to share how much you appreciate them, to say things that might not come up in everyday conversation. Writing down memories, hopes, and little reminders that you care is a beautiful way to show your love. And honestly, it’s something they’ll hold onto for years to come.
  2. A Recipe Book of Memories and Favorite Meals
For friends and family, food is often at the center of our favorite memories. Compile a list of their best-loved recipes, or favorite dishes you’ve shared together, and hand-write them into a personalized recipe book. Add little notes about memories from those meals—funny moments, inside jokes, photos of the final dish and of you all around the table. This is more than a recipe book; it’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
  3. A Custom Photo Album from Artifact Uprising
We adore Artifact Uprising for their beautifully crafted photo books and user-friendly design process. A custom photo album is a perfect way to revisit cherished memories together. Curate your favorite photos, whether from a trip, family gatherings, or just little moments that capture everyday life. And, these albums feel as polished as they do personal—a lasting keepsake that brings the past into the present with every flip of the page.

There you have it—a little bit of luxe, a dash of heartfelt, and plenty of inspiration to help you nail that holiday gifting. We hope this guide gives you all the ideas you need to surprise (and maybe even impress) the ones you love.

And, let’s be real—sometimes the best gifts are the ones we secretly want ourselves (hello, Gucci boots and satin pajamas)! So don’t be afraid to casually leave this open on your partner’s laptop or drop a hint hint here and there. It’s the season of giving, right?

At the end of the day, we believe the best gifts are the ones that make people feel seen and appreciated. Whether it’s a beautiful bag or a handwritten letter, it’s all about those little moments that make life feel richer. So go on, have fun with it! Pour yourself a holiday cocktail (extra points if it’s in a new martini glass), and let’s make this season one to remember.

Happy gifting, friends—and don’t forget to treat yourself too. You’ve earned it! 🌟

Holiday

An Easy Formula:
A Beautiful Thanksgiving
Your Guests Will Love

Thanksgiving has always held a special place in my heart. It’s the holiday that’s all about gathering together and enjoying time with loved ones. And, of course, it’s a day filled with delicious food! Growing up, we used to joke that my mom was Martha Stewart. In fact, we just watched the Martha documentary on Netflix and laughed together, reminiscing about how we used to obsess over her every project, recipe, and party trick. My mom matched Martha’s skill and flair … and then some! I’m so grateful for the creativity, warmth and joy she instilled in our family traditions through her amazing meals and festive gatherings.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize just how powerful homemade meals and a beautifully set table can be in making people feel comforted and at home. That’s something I strive to create in our home now, especially as we make memories with our own children. I’m counting down the days until we’re all together under one roof again for the first time since moving into our new home. Just the thought of having everyone around the table this Thanksgiving makes my heart so full!

And, while I’ll always be inspired by Martha’s incredible style and attention to detail, I’ve learned that making things special doesn’t have to be overly complicated. My approach is a little more “Martha Simplified.” It’s about creating beauty and deliciousness without a ton of fuss. So, if you’re looking to set a lovely Thanksgiving table that’s easy to put together, I’ve got you covered. Let’s dive into some simple, yet stunning décor and centerpiece ideas that will bring your Thanksgiving table to life … without all the stress.

Simple & Stunning Thanksgiving Décor Ideas

When it comes to Thanksgiving décor, I’m a firm believer in using what’s easily available and naturally beautiful. You don’t need to go all out with elaborate arrangements to make your table feel festive. Sometimes the simplest pieces are the most striking!

1. Embrace Seasonal Produce as Centerpieces

One of my favorite tricks is to use everyday fruits and vegetables as the centerpiece. Think pears, pomegranates, squash, and artichokes—their colors and textures add a seasonal vibe to the table. Place these directly on the table, or in a series of pedestal plates or bowls. Vary the heights, and stagger them for a more organic, layered look down the center of the table. This setup not only feels festive but is incredibly low-maintenance.

2. Lots of Candles …The More, the Better!

There’s something about candlelight that instantly makes a table feel warm and inviting. For Thanksgiving, the more candles, the better! Try a mix of taper candles in staggered-height candlesticks for that classic elegance, or place a few chunky pillar candles directly on the table or a large platter. And, don’t stress about putting them right on the tablecloth—dried candle wax is surprisingly easy to clean and just peels right off once it has hardened. The glow and ambiance candles bring to the table are very worth it!

3. Linen Tablecloths & Pretty Cloth Napkins for an Elevated Look

Let’s talk linens—these linen tablecloths from Amazon are an absolute game-changer! I bought two for our long outdoor table, and they instantly add a touch of elegance without breaking the bank. The oatmeal color has a warm, earthy tone, but I’m already eyeing the white as well. These are super budget-friendly for the quality, and they’re perfect for doubling up on a longer table.

To take it a step further, add some beautiful cloth napkins to each setting. Cloth napkins, even for the simplest meals, make every dish feel more special! Etsy has many gorgeous, unique options, and I’m currently obsessed with Cabana’s designs—they have the most stunning patterns that add personality and charm to any tablescape.

4. Pair Relaxed Elegance with Beautiful China

To balance that casual, laid-back vibe, bring in beautiful china to add a touch of timeless elegance. I’m lucky enough to have my grandmother’s china, which always makes the table feel extra special. But, if you’re looking for a place to start your own collection or need replacement pieces, there are some amazing sites for finding vintage or gently used sets. One to check out is called Recplacements—my mom has actually ordered from them before to replace pieces in her own set.

Adding these beautiful, unique pieces to your table not only elevates the look but brings a sense of history and tradition to each gathering.

5. Vintage Glassware and Eclectic Flatware

Nothing says charm like vintage or vintage-inspired glassware. Etched glass is especially lovely, and for each setting, I like to include both a water goblet and a wine glass—it gives that layered, curated look. Mixing and matching different styles of glassware can bring in some character, and a touch of color (like amber glass) adds warmth and depth to the table. I’ll link my favorite amber goblets and wine glasses for you—they’re perfect for that cozy, fall feel!

For flatware, don’t be afraid to get creative. Mixing different styles or finishes, even across table settings, gives an eclectic yet intentional look that’s effortlessly beautiful.

6. Flower Arrangements for a Touch of Nature

For an effortless and inviting centerpiece, try using a few low flower arrangements down the table. I’ve learned from the talented Summer Robbins that florists often call this style monofloral. But, honestly, I just adore the simplicity of using one variety of flower in small vessels. It creates a cohesive, stylish look without overwhelming the table.

And remember, it doesn’t have to be all florals! Right now, you might consider deep plum and burgundy shades for that beautiful fall palette. You can even use branches with leaves for a rustic touch that brings the beauty of nature right to your table. These low arrangements keep the conversation flowing, while still adding that charming, seasonal vibe we all love during Thanksgiving.

A Simple Menu to Compliment Your Gathering

Now, let’s talk about the menu! Plates of appetizers are a must, and you can’t go wrong with a big cheese board—it’s a personal favorite in our family. I like to place a large cheese platter out for everyone to graze on while we lounge, usually with a football game on. 🙂

And this year, I’m going back to the basics with a few twists on our dinner menu. I know some families do a ham or roast, but we keep it traditional and roast a turkey. This is Derrick’s territory and he usually knocks it out of the park. I like to pair a few yummy sides that I know are comforting and delicious. I found this recipe for a Butternut Squash Orzo Salad with Candied Bacon from Half Baked Harvest (anything with candied bacon is a YES in our family)

All you need are a few tasty side dishes and everyone is happy. There’s those tried and true (I still love good stuffing and green beans with the crunchy onion topping. But in addition, I plan to try this Macaroni & Cheese recipe by the queen herself, Martha! Our boys absolutely are mac & cheese obsessed so in lieu of hours of peeling potatoes and making mashed potatoes we will go this route this year. I can’t wait to try it!

Lastly, I think this Roasted Bacon Brussel Sprouts with Salted Honey, might honestly get everyone on board with brussel sprouts. (notice the common denominator, bacon? LOL) And of course, our Thanksgiving meal wouldn’t be complete without my grandmother’s home baked crescent rolls. So easy and can be made ahead – just pop in the freezer and ready to bake day of! Check out the recipe below. I hope you enjoy as much as we do. Let me know if you try them!

Oops, one more thing,  we can’t forget a festive cocktail. I love a pitcher of a yummy cocktails for large gatherings… it just makes it easier and simpler if everyone can help themselves to an already mixed and delicious concoction. This Thanksgiving Cider Punch by Half Baked Harvest checks all the boxes for me!

The November Edit: Embracing Simplified Living

As the chill of November settles in, there’s something magical about the shorter days, the golden light, and the slower pace that autumn brings. This month, we’re all about leaning into that warmth. We’re creating spaces and moments that invite us to linger longer and savor the season. And, we’ve curated a collection of pieces that feel perfectly in tune with this slower, cozier rhythm. Each one adds a layer of charm, comfort, and ease to your everyday.

At the heart of this November Edit is a call to slow down and embrace a simpler way of living. We’re reminded that as beautiful as the holiday season can be, it’s also a time when things get busy. So, this November, we’re leaning into a “less is more” mentality, focusing on what really matters and finding joy in simplicity.

Simplified living doesn’t mean stripping away everything; it’s about curating with intention. It’s the art of creating beauty with fewer, more meaningful pieces—the kind you truly love and want to keep close. Maybe it’s a soft blanket draped over a well-loved chair, or a set of beautiful, sturdy dishes that are as perfect for everyday breakfasts as they are for holiday gatherings. These thoughtfully chosen items make daily routines feel like rituals, which adds a sense of calm and grounding to our spaces.

Savor the Season

As we head into the holidays, we’re letting go of perfection and embracing the imperfect charm of a home that feels lived-in and loved. The goal is to fill our spaces and our days with things that resonate, serve a purpose, and bring us happiness. So, here’s to savoring the season in a way that feels sustainable and stress-free. We can enjoy gatherings without the need for endless fuss, and enjoy the pieces that make us feel at home … wherever we are.

Speaking of holidays — the color of the month is a deep green, reminiscent of the pine trees that make up so much of our home town. It’s an elegant and earthy hue that makes me feel the connection between my surroundings and my design work. It has such a great energy to it, don’t you think?

Setting the Table for Togetherness

There’s something heartwarming about setting a table that feels like it’s ready to welcome everyone! Imagine a long, rustic table with layered textures, flickering candlelight, and the kind of tableware that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. This November, we’re inspired by earthy tones and vintage-inspired details that bring a relaxed elegance to the table. Picture amber goblets catching the candlelight, and soft, washed linens in muted colors that feel like they’ve been around forever (in the best way).

Stoneware Dinner Plate

For us, the table is where we truly embrace the season’s spirit. We imagine gathering with friends and family and pouring wine into those moody, amber glasses. We choose utensils that bring that touch of vintage charm, and serving dishes on rustic stoneware that look beautiful despite a few chips and cracks. These pieces aren’t just for show—they’re meant to be used, loved, and passed around. There’s a certain joy to creating a tablescape that doesn’t feel overly styled or pristine. It’s a space that encourages laughter, storytelling, and maybe a bit of lingering after the plates are empty.

Mixing Old and New for a Timeless Aesthetic

This month’s collection has many pieces that are inspired by that charming, lived-in look, where old-meets-new in the most effortless way. We’re finding beauty in things that have a bit of history, a story behind them, like a well-worn napkin with a vintage pattern, or a decorative piece that looks like it was discovered at a flea market. It’s about creating a space that feels collected, not curated; a blend of pieces that work together to create a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Embroidered Napkins

We love homes where you can see layers of life: furniture that feels like it has been passed down, linens with a slightly faded hue, or ceramics with a bit of rustic charm. These pieces add a warmth and personality that feels authentic. And, they have a way of grounding a space. They’re not trying too hard; they’re just there, blending seamlessly into the backdrop of everyday life.

Bringing Fall’s Warmth into Interiors

Home is where we’re finding the most comfort these days. We’re inspired by spaces that feel cozy but refined, with a mix of rustic warmth and modern simplicity that fits the season perfectly. For example, there’s something about a well-chosen dining chair that makes every gathering feel a little more intentional (and comfortable). The perfect chair can make a dining area feel curated and cohesive, yet approachable and lived-in. It’s the kind of piece that brings a touch of quiet luxury, both functional and beautiful, and designed for real life but elevated to feel special.

Everyday Luxuries for a Simplified Routine

In the hustle of the holiday season, it’s easy to overlook the small things that bring us joy. That’s why this month, we’re celebrating the little luxuries that elevate daily routines. After all, it’s the thoughtful details that add a touch of indulgence to the everyday! We’ve included some gorgeous, luxe essentials in this edit. For example, this beautifully scented laundry detergent that turns a mundane chore into a moment of self-care. Or, this skin tint that gives you that effortless, “I woke up like this” glow.

Laundry Detergent

It’s the little things that bring a sense of calm and beauty to the busiest days. We like to think of these as tiny rituals that add intention to our routines. Imagine lighting a candle, and pouring a little extra care into folding that freshly scented laundry. Or, taking a moment to apply a touch of glow before heading out the door. These aren’t just products—they’re ways to infuse a bit of peace and joy into the small moments that make up our day.

Layers of Comfort + Style

When the days get cooler, there’s nothing quite like slipping into something that feels both stylish and cozy! For us, November fashion is about embracing textures and pieces that let you feel at ease. No fuss, just warmth and comfort with a touch of elegance. So, we’re leaning into high-waisted jeans with a relaxed, trouser fit — the kind you can dress up or down.

Patterned Blouse
Wide Leg Denim

We picture this look as part of a weekend escape — a cozy cabin in the woods with a warm coffee in hand. And, of course, cozy knit textures and patterns that give your wardrobe a fresh feel. These are the pieces that make you look put-together, but never overdone. They’re comfortable enough to make you feel at home wherever you are, yet polished enough to make any day feel a little more special. For example, fringe has always been a star in my wardrobe — and this sweater skirt is absolutely to die for!

Wool + Fringe Knit Skirt

So, here’s to November! A month to savor the slow moments, gather around cozy tables, and fill our homes with pieces that bring warmth and joy. We hope this month’s edit inspires you to create a little haven for yourself; a space that feels like home in every sense of the word. Enjoy 🤍

A High End Window Covering Hack You Must Try

Okay, I have to let you in on one of my best-kept secrets for instantly transforming a room—and just in time for the holidays! You know how sometimes a space just feels like it’s missing something? Maybe it’s a little bare, or the vibe isn’t quite cozy enough. Well, for me, the answer is almost always in the window coverings. Drapes can be a total game-changer when it comes to making a room feel pulled together, warm, and inviting.

So, if you’re anything like me and looking for a quick, affordable upgrade before your holiday guests start pouring in, keep reading!

Economical & Pretty

Let’s start with the hardware because, believe it or not, that’s where a lot of the magic happens! I found all of our drapery rods and hardware from Paso Robles Ironworks on Etsy, and let me tell you, these are IT.  We opted for the 7/8″ French Return Curtain Rod in ‘antique black.’ (If you’re curious about other Etsy vendors that we endorse, we have a whole blog with deets … just click here!). I’ve been obsessed with them ever since I first discovered them for our last home, and they’re so timeless and sleek that we ended up using them everywhere in our Tumalo project too. What I love most about these rods is how they add a subtle touch of elegance without overpowering the space. Plus, they’re super easy and straightforward to install!

Now, let’s talk drapes. I know what you’re thinking—drapes can be expensive, right? And who has time to wait for custom orders during the holiday rush? Well, here’s where things get fun: these gorgeous drapes I’m raving about are from H&M. Yes, you read that right! H&M for the win. Not only are they super affordable, but they look like something you’d spend a small fortune on. The fabric is light and airy, and has just the right amount of sheerness to let soft light filter through. I initially grabbed them as a quick fix (I had a home video shoot coming up and needed something fast), but now I’m honestly obsessed and never want to replace them.

The right window treatments can add texture and warmth, and will create a finished, layered look that ties everything together. They’re one of the easiest ways to add a bit of drama and height to your space. Pro tip: if you hang them high enough, they make your ceilings look way taller!

You know I couldn’t leave these drapes as-is. We had to add a little something extra to give them that high-end, custom feel.

Clouz Houz tip: The panels come with drapery trim for adding drapery pins to create your own triple pleat. I know, it sounds fancy, but it’s actually super simple once you get the hang of it! The pleats add fullness to the drapes, making them look way more luxurious and custom. I’ll be honest, explaining how to skip the loops and create the pleat can get a bit tricky, so I’m thinking we should make a video tutorial to show you exactly how it’s done—because it’s worth the extra hassle, trust me. Let me know if this would be helpful for you and we’ll get to work!

Another thing we did that made a HUGE difference was doubling up on the panels. Instead of just using one panel per side, we used two, and wow—what a difference that made. It gave the drapes a much fuller look, which helps with privacy while still letting in that soft, natural light I’m always after. The way the light trickles through during the day is pure magic, creating that dreamy, cozy feel I can’t get enough of.

5 Tools for Happiness During Life’s Transitions

Hey there, friends! As the seasons shift and the weather changes, I’ve found myself reflecting on happiness, and how to stay motivated and keep that spark alive in our empty nester phase. We are one month into this new chapter of our lives, and it can be a real challenge as the days grow shorter and the air gets a little cooler, to find ways to avoid seasonal depression. But, let me share what I do to keep busy and make the most of this beautiful time in life. From one mom to another, I hope this resonates with you! If you find this helpful or inspiring, please leave a comment—I’d LOVE to hear what works for you. We are in this together! 🤍

Taking Advantage of the Outdoors Brings Happiness

Little things can make all the difference as the seasons change. I love to catch some fresh air outside; it just looks different than summer! Fire pits become my “go-to” for cozy evenings, and there’s nothing quite like curling up with a good book on the porch. Whether it’s a classic novel or a new favorite, I find that reading helps me unwind and enjoy the moment. And, with the weather still fairly decent, I try to make the most of the limited time and linger outside longer, with maybe a couple of added throws 😉

Digital Camera

Adventure Awaits

I’m also here for outdoor adventures. For example, hiking is a great way to embrace the beauty of fall and stay active. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to reconnect with nature and reflect on everything around us. Living in Tumalo now, we have access to many amazing trails. I love walking along the river and listening to all the beautiful sounds around me. My happiness goal is to get out for at least 10 minutes (a few times a day) during the work day to stretch my legs and take a break. It works wonders when I’m feeling overwhelmed or swamped with client work.

Cooking Up Comfort

Trying out new recipes keeps things exciting in the kitchen. Try finding yummy comfort foods that warm both the heart and the home. Recently, D and I have been enjoying french onion soup, making different dips/apps for football Sundays, and of course, my favorite: espresso martinis! (Stay tuned for the French Onion Soup recipe coming soon.)

Happiness at Home: Creating a Cozy Space

Speaking of cozy, a little cleaning goes a long way! Sprucing up your space helps make it feel inviting and comfortable, which is so important to avoid that seasonal slump. I love to add some Pendleton blankets and light candles to create an atmosphere that screams cozy. Some days, you just need to hunker down at home and indulge in a little self-care. It can be as simple as adding warmth to your space. I’ve found that rearranging and decorating helps me romanticize my life, especially when my surroundings reflect my mindset.

Consider loungy silhouettes right now, both in your wardrobe and in your interiors. It feels so effortless and inviting!

A Fresh Look

Have you thought about trying a new paint color? It’s amazing how a fresh coat can transform a room and lift your spirits! When things feel like they are slowing down, a little change can bring unexpected happiness.

***

As I wrap up this little chat, I just want to say how much I appreciate sharing these moments with you. Life can get busy, and it’s easy to forget the beauty in slowing down, but I’ve learned that taking the time to nurture our spaces—and ourselves—can truly lift our spirits.

I remember when my kids were little, and we’d turn ordinary days into adventures, from baking together in the kitchen to building blanket forts in the living room. Now, as an empty nester, those memories keep me grounded, and I find joy in creating a home that reflects the love and warmth we built as a family.

So, here’s to embracing this season of change, finding joy in our routines, and sharing those moments that fill our cups. ✨

Our Bend Tailored Traditional Project
+
Full Service Design

You probably recognize this project from some of our stories. Meet our ‘Bend Tailored Traditional’ home! This is a current project that we are working on from some clients of ours who originally asked for our help with another house, but they decided to sell it and purchase this beautiful home in Discovery Park. So, here we are now helping them with their kitchen + dining + living rooms, and the coolest, moodiest wet bar renovation. This is through our ‘Full Service Design’ option, and it has been really fun to check on the progress every couple of weeks. It’s really coming along quickly! We love it when our clients come back to our services and trust us to carry out their vision. It feels good to develop such strong and personal relationships with them.

Kitchen + Dining Room Rendering

What Is Full Service Design?

This service is ideal for those of you who want a seamless, comprehensive design experience from start to finish. It’s perfect for clients embarking on custom new builds or remodels, particularly those in the planning phase who seek a tailored, white-glove approach. And by the way … this doesn’t have to be a full-home remodel or new build. We just ask for a two to three room minimum.

We provide a flat fee for a comprehensive design plan for your new home. This includes elevation drawings, photo realistic renderings and procurement of materials. If you’d also like our help with general contracting as well, an average project adds 10-15% of your overall project cost for project management/general contracting services.

Transforming Our Client’s Home in Bend: A Sneak Peek

Now that we have shared a bit about this particular service, I wanted to share a bit about what we are doing to transform our client’s home here in Bend. You can check out where we started with the ‘before’ pictures below. And, I’ll get into the work we’re doing, and even share some renderings to show you how this project is going to turn out once it’s finished to completion.

The bright blue kitchen when our clients purchased the home didn’t align with their aesthetic or functional needs. The layout had great potential though—plenty of room for a big island, ample counter space, and lots of cabinetry. They wanted to transform it into something more their style: a masculine, classic design (think a classic men’s suit) that’s perfect for hosting and entertaining family and friends.

The Island: A Statement

The island was the perfect opportunity to add a unique, artistic touch. I’m obsessed with the fluted cabinets and the texture they bring to the space. After several discussions with our clients, we realized their dream kitchen had a classic, lounge like vibe—similar to the Ralph Lauren Polo Bar. So, we chose rich walnut to clad the cabinets, giving it that timeless, sophisticated feel.

Cabinetry: True to Bend

We opted for Benjamin Moore’s ‘Dark Olive’ for the cabinets. You guys know we love a green kitchen here at CH. It just feels so true to Bend and the rich colors of the beautiful pine trees. Another thing — we encouraged our clients to try a slightly different cabinet door style. I love this twist on classic shaker style cabinet by opting to narrow the shaker so its slim profile gives a slight contemporary touch. They’re seamless, and give a beautiful framing effect that adds depth.

Countertops: An intentional balance of beauty and durability

For the island, we went with a quartz for its durability. Our clients loved the look of natural stone (such as what we chose for the back counter). But, knowing the island is going to be a major workhorse, they didn’t want to worry about the maintenance of the natural stone. This is a great example of a give/take when choosing materials. We can guide our clients as to where to incorporate certain materials in areas that make sense for the way they live.

We’re right in the middle of painting, and it’s all coming together! The trim in the bar area just got finished in a graphite color, which really gives the space a rich contrast. For the living, dining and kitchen, we went with a neutral, Sherwin Williams Greek Villa that’s used for both the walls and the trim. Since it’s an open floor plan, this color flows seamlessly throughout the main areas.

Next up on the to-do list is to continue painting in the kitchen, but to also move along with the wet bar design. It was originally a space for an office. But, our clients knew that they wanted a spot for mixing drinks and relaxing with friends and family. And, it was the perfect opportunity for a makeover with the overflow of the dining room. It’s a convenient little area where there will be a small bar sink and an under-counter wine fridge. There will also be shelves for bottles and barware. Then, the entire room will get wrapped in the most beautiful dark and moody grasscloth. And, although the rendering below doesn’t do it justice, we can’t wait to see the antique mirrored wall behind the open shelves! It’ll reflect the beautiful light, and add a bit of drama in the evenings when lights are dimmed.

The October Edit:
Curating Cozy Vibes and Fall Musings

October is an exciting month for CH. Queue travel, project photoshoots, publication features, and continued growth—it’s going to be a whirlwind month as we look ahead. With so many cool business and personal projects on the horizon, we’re feeling deeply inspired by all the cozy, autumnal touches around us. October is truly a transformative and accomplishment-filled month.

When it comes to both fall fashion and interiors, there’s a major shift happening. Rich, moody tones like espresso browns and cozy textiles are everywhere. We’ve also been noticing a lingering Western flair that blends seamlessly into fall—a nod to our love for country living and Ralph Lauren. Western elements have become our bread and butter, grounding our designs with classic prints and timeless styles. There’s just something about the warmth and charm of the West that makes everything feel like home.

Color of the Month: Espresso—rich, deep, and full of warmth. We’re embracing all things espresso this October, from moody walls to accent pieces in various textures. Think luxurious velvet, cozy wool, and sleek leather, all in this dark, earthy hue. And speaking of texture, grasscloth is making a major comeback! It’s a classic I’ve loved for years, and it’s the perfect way to add warmth and dimension to any space. Whether on an accent wall or lining a cabinet, grasscloth’s organic texture brings a timeless, elevated feel.

This collection speaks to the heart of fall—a season that invites us to embrace layers, textures, and timeless classics both in our homes and wardrobes. As the weather cools during October and the days get shorter, these pieces help create warmth and style that feel effortlessly inviting.

For the Home

Plaid Patterns: RL is having a major moment again, and honestly, it’s about time. Their collections feel so true to Clouz Houz style, especially when it comes to cozy, equestrian vibes. A plaid throw is an easy way to bring that look into your home. Toss it over the couch or your favorite chair for a warm, rustic feel.

Galvanized & Brass Accents: This fall, I’m swapping out all other forms of lighting and going all in on table lamps. They create the perfect cozy, moody glow and make any room feel more romantic. I love this industrial lamp for its unexpected touch—it adds a little something different to the space. Perfect for a bedside or reading nook!

This brass planter is ideal for adding a seasonal touch to your space. Use it for a beautiful display of moss, squash, or pumpkins. I could also see it used as a beautiful way to display kindling next to your fireplace. Did you notice the lion head handles?? Ummm, yes please!

Upholstered Loveseat: Blending modern shapes with nostalgic prints feels so timeless. This loveseat is such a great piece—it’s versatile and classic without trying too hard.

Still Life Artwork: There’s something about fall that makes me crave vintage art. This still life of sardines might seem quirky, but it’s the kind of piece that adds layers to your space. It’s a fun conversation starter and gives the room a little more personality. I neeeeed to see this on someone’s gallery wall ASAP!

More beautiful items for your home …

Quilted Blanket: This one feels like a modern take on the traditional. The star pattern has that vintage charm we love, but the black and white palette gives it a fresh twist. It’s the perfect layer for your bed or draped over the couch for when you want to cozy up with a movie.

Earthy Area Rug:  I did warn you I was all about espresso tones this season, right? This deep, rich brown is seriously grounding. And, paired with this edgy pattern, it’s the kind of rug that instantly elevates a room without trying too hard. You’ll love the earthy vibes it brings!

Vintage-Inspired Console Table: I’m obsessed with how versatile this blackwood console is. It’s the ideal statement piece for an entryway or behind a sofa, adding just the right amount of drama. It’s one of those pieces that works year-round but feels especially moody and luxe this season.

Hand-Carved Salad Set: These wooden servers bring natural elements to your kitchen. They’re perfect for fall entertaining, giving your table an organic, handmade touch. Make your dinner feel intentional yet simple.

Bookstand: Yet another way in which I am trying to get people to start displaying the photography in their coffee table books! It feels so artistic, and it truly is inspiring for guests. Also, it lets them in on your style a bit more!

Wardrobe Highlights

On the fashion side of things:

  • Wide-Leg Jeans: Can we talk about how these jeans are the perfect fall staple? They’re comfy and laid-back, but still feel polished enough to dress up with a cute top or chunky sweater. The barrel-leg silhouette is super flattering and the adjustable tie waste makes it a very forgiving option as we approach holiday dinner parties 😉
  • Classic Barn Jacket: A good trench coat is a fall essential, and this one is giving cozy, vintage vibes with a modern twist. The plaid accents? So chic. It’s that perfect layering piece you can throw on over anything—instantly elevating your look while keeping it effortless and cool. October is the perfect month to add this jacket to your wardrobe!

Each piece in this edit feels so special for fall! From adding texture and warmth to your home to curating those must-have wardrobe staples, this roundup captures everything I love about the season—layered, cozy, a little bit Western, and totally timeless.

Some days I look around and still can’t believe this is our life. Not because it’s perfect or easy… but because it’s ours.
We started over when we didn’t mean to. Moved to a new place. Took a chance on a completely different rhythm. And slowly, we fell in love with this slower way of living. With the quiet. The space. The chance to build something that actually matters to us.
It’s wild how one unexpected change can unlock a version of your life you never even knew was possible.
