Summer Activities in Bend:
A Perfect Blend of Adventure and Relaxation

Summer in Bend is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. The small yet growing town comes alive overnight as soon as summer vacation kicks in! It’s the ultimate hot spot for PNW locals who love the outdoors and all the scenic vibes. But don’t worry, you don’t have to be a hardcore outdoor enthusiast to enjoy Bend.

I’ll be honest—I’m not the most outdoorsy girl, but I do love certain activities. So, think of this as your guide for someone who’s all about the views and is always ready for a photo-op, but also loves exploring the city, shops, and restaurants for a more chill, R&R vibe. Let me show you some of my favorite summer experiences in Bend!

Cool Off at Suttle Lake Lodge

If you’re coming to Bend in the summer, be prepared for some serious heat—and sometimes the chance of heavy smoke during wildfire season. That’s why it’s super important to have a go-to spot to cool off and spend your days staying refreshed on the water. What is one of my all-time favorite places to escape the heat? Suttle Lake Lodge!

Just 45 minutes outside Bend, Suttle Lake Lodge is a quaint little resort with a day-use area and cabins, as well as lodge rooms and cabins for rent. The best part? They come with canoes and a private beach area! One idea is to drive up for the afternoon, grab lunch at the Boathouse, and sip on their refreshing cocktails—the perfect combo for a hot day.

Don’t forget to treat yourself to a chocolate-vanilla swirl soft-serve after lunch. Take it down to the beach and enjoy it before jumping into the lake to cool off. While you’re in the area, stop by a great thrift shop in Sisters, such as Big Chief Vintage, for some classic western finds. It’s the perfect way to round out your day of adventure and relaxation!

Enjoy the Outdoors at Shevlin Park

While we’re on the topic of outdoor activities, Shevlin Park is a must-visit for your next hike. And, it’s perfect if you’re just looking for something more low key, like a hot girl walk. The views here are absolutely stunning, and the sound of the river as you walk along it is incredibly peaceful.

I find myself doing a lot of thinking on these trails; it’s the perfect activity for when you need to clear your head. Whether you’re up for a more intense hike or just want a relaxing stroll, Shevlin Park has you covered. Simple and serene!

Horseback Riding at Sunriver Stables, just south of BendĀ

The next activity is one that has always been a highlight of my childhood—visiting Sunriver for the day and checking out the stables. Whether you’re up for an adventurous trail ride or just want to pet the sweet, gentle giants, this place is perfect … especially for kids!

Pro tip: Head over during dusk when they let all the horses out into the meadow for their evening graze. If you time it just right, you might catch the cowboys wrangling them up to come inside for the night. It’s a magical sight and a must-see experience!Ā

Explore the Farmer’s Market in Downtown Bend

Another simple yet delightful activity is to explore the Farmer’s Market in downtown Bend. If you can visit during the week, make sure to go on Wednesdays—that’s when the best vendors in town come out with the freshest and tastiest goodies.

Lately, I’ve only been buying my produce from the Farmer’s Market because I’ve been so disappointed with store-bought stuff. Trust me, the difference is huge. So, head to the Farmer’s Market and grab that seasonal produce while it’s fresh! And if you want some yummy baked goods, I highly recommend the Mushroom Galette from Cornmuffins Bakery.

Indulge in Refreshing Sips at Boss Rambler

If you’re done exploring and ready to indulge in some refreshing sips, I highly recommend Boss Rambler for their frosĆ©!Ā

You can grab a container to go (while you float the river) or enjoy it on their nice patio, where they often have fun music playing and outdoor spritzers. Take in the people watching on Galveston and relax in one of their adirondack chairs.Ā  It’s the perfect way to unwind and treat yourself after a day of adventure in Bend!

Live Music

This one’s for my country fans! Hayden Homes Amphitheater is hands down one of the best places to catch live music in Bend. Throughout the summer, they host incredible artists from various genres, but it’s especially great for country music lovers. The venue itself is stunning, adding to the whole experience.

If you can’t snag tickets, here’s a tip: try paddle boarding on the river! It backs right up to the stage, and trust me, the sound is just as amazing—if not better—floating on the water. It’s a unique way to enjoy live music in Bend!

Explore the Food Carts in Bend

Lastly, but one of our new found favorite spots for live music — the Bite In Tumalo!!Ā  On Wednesday and Saturday nights they have live performances. Grab yourself a pint of IPA, choose some yummy food from one of the food carts (pro tip- the sushi from Northfresh is ahhhhmazing believe it or not!)

This is one of those things I feel very strongly about.
Scale is one of the fastest ways to elevate a room... and one of the easiest to get wrong. I see it all the time: a space has beautiful pieces, but something still feels off. More often than not, it’s because everything is too small.

Our coffee table is a good example. It’s intentionally larger because it helps the whole seating area read as one zone. It visually connects the sofa and chairs, gives everyone an actual surface within reach, and creates one strong focal point in the middle of the room.

If it were smaller, we’d need extra little tables to make the layout function, and all of those pieces would start competing with each other.

One larger piece often creates more calm than several smaller ones.

Save this for your next room refresh, and share it with someone who’s trying to figure out why their space feels off.
Finally using our kitchen... and it feels so good 🄹

We don’t take this for granted for a second! Having a fully working kitchen again truly feels like such a gift. It’s always been the heart of our home, and after so many months without it, being back in this space feels extra special.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know Derrick and I are major foodies.

And over the years, he’s become such an incredible cook... his recipes just keep getting better and better (lucky me ā˜ŗļø).

There’s something about cooking at home, slowing down, and gathering around a meal that just feels like us again.

Would you guys want to see more of what we’re cooking, like we used to share?
5 stars. I wanted to make our guests feel comfortable and welcome and a hotel inspired bed seemed like the perfect idea.

All of this bedding is from @onequince , comment ā€˜BED’ and we’ll send you everything that’s linked on our LTK.

This look isn’t for the ā€œanti-pillowsā€ person - in fact it’s all about the layering for that plush, all-white and cozy hotel inspired look.

Here’s how to get this look in your home:
- Start with smooth, wrinkle-free sheets (a quick steam makes all the difference) I love the classic embroidered trim on these I used.
- Tuck your sheets tightly (especially the corners) for that tailored finish
- Layer in a plush duvet or comforter for that full, cloud-like feel (I like to stuff a duvet cover with an insert thats one size larger)
- And don’t skip the pillow layer technique (this is key!): I stacked four total for sleeping, two euro shams for structure, two decorative shams, and an oversized accent lumbar pillow (ours measures 18 x 42 in @LeeJofa fabric) to finish it off

Save for the next time you want a bed refresh!
Here’s how to bring everything you love together. Without the chaos!

Comment ā€˜LOVE’ and I’ll send you exactly how we define your base, choose your lead style, and mix in the rest so it actually works.

Most people think they have to choose one style... but that’s usually not the problem. The issue is trying to make everything feel equally important.

If you want your home to feel collected (not confusing), you need a clear lead... and then layer in the rest.
The difference between a home that looks good... and one that feels good?
It’s what your hands touch every day.

Plumbing fixtures.
Cabinet hardware.
Upholstery.

These aren’t always the most exciting decisions, but they’re the ones you interact with constantly. And trust me, you notice the difference. If you’re going to invest anywhere, start here.

Save this + pass it along to someone designing a space right now!
