The February Edit: Romantic Room Refreshes

Yay, I’m so excited for this month—I love February! If there’s one thing about January, it’s that it makes sure you feel every single one of those 31 days. It’s like the Monday of the entire year—sooo slow. But now, I’m ready to freshen things up and start looking ahead to warmer days (even though, here in Bend, those are still a ways off). Just seeing the sun peek through and imagining flowers blooming has me feeling a little more alive already. Welcome to the February Edit everyone!

My February Mood

February is the month of love, and honestly, what’s not to love about it? As a neutral girl through and through, I love leaning into the girly vibe February brings—it’s such a fun shift! But, instead of stopping at red and pink sweaters or candy hearts, I’ve been thinking about ways to help you make your home feel a little more romantic on the everyday. Not just for Valentine’s Day or the short-lived “holiday aisle” aesthetic, but in an elevated, practical way that sticks around long after February ends.

A curated mood board for The February Edit: Romantic Touches, featuring soft, feminine, and cozy home decor elements. Set against a warm Mocha Mousse background, this collection includes delicate glass candlesticks, ruffled bedding, a scalloped pendant light, and a skirted accent chair—each piece chosen to bring a refined, romantic charm into the home. Small yet impactful details, like patterned lampshades, vintage-inspired pillows, and illuminating skincare, elevate everyday essentials with a timeless, soft aesthetic perfect for transitioning into spring.

For me, that starts with elevating the essentials—the little things we usually don’t think much about. Swapping out a basic lamp for one with a soft, ambient glow can totally change the mood of a room. Or, adding a skirted piece of furniture—it’s one of those details that immediately makes a space feel softer and more inviting. Another easy shift? Filling a few pretty vases with fresh flowers or branches. Even if your grocery store only has carnations, arrange them low and tight in a wide vase for something simple and chic.

When I say “romantic,” I’m not just talking candles and roses. It’s about being a little more thoughtful with the things we already use every day. Like upgrading your bedding with soft, tonal layers that make you want to linger longer. Or, swapping out those standard towels in your bathroom for something with a little fringe or texture. It’s about creating moments of beauty in the things you touch and use all the time.

Take your wardrobe, for example. This is the time to refine your basics. I’m talking about that perfect pair of denim you reach for constantly, or a white button-up that can do no wrong. These are the pieces that form the backbone of a capsule wardrobe, and investing in high-quality options means you’ll love and wear them for years to come.

A beautifully styled vignette featuring a vibrant pink and yellow cookbook, A House in Tuscany, propped on a stand atop a marble countertop. Beside it, a delicate arrangement of chamomile flowers in a vintage silver vase adds a fresh, organic touch. In the foreground, a bundle of blush pink taper candles from Greentree Home, wrapped in kraft paper and tied with a chic black ribbon, adds a romantic and artisanal detail to the scene. A perfect blend of warmth, texture, and timeless charm.

Color of the Month: PANTONE Mocha Mousse

Let’s talk about the color of the year—Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. Brown tones, especially those with a warm, pink undertone like this one, have been making their way back into interiors, fashion, and even beauty for a few years now. It’s a reaction to all the cool grays and stark whites we’ve seen for so long. People are craving warmth, coziness, and a sense of connection to nature—and this color gives us exactly that.

A rich and inviting visual of Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse, a warm, chocolatey brown with subtle pink undertones. The swirled texture in the background mimics the smoothness of whipped mousse, emphasizing the depth and coziness of this hue. Perfectly blending warmth and elegance, this shade feels both nostalgic and modern—ideal for interiors, fashion, and design trends that embrace earthy, grounding tones.

Mocha Mousse has a softness to it that feels fresh and inviting, almost like a neutral with a little extra personality. Think of it like this: if brown and blush had a baby, Mocha Mousse would be it. It’s the kind of color that works beautifully in many spaces.

For February, I think this shade is especially lovely. It’s romantic without being too sweet, cozy without being too heavy, and neutral enough that it pairs beautifully with other colors. Imagine it with muted greens, soft creams, or even a deeper navy—it just works. Whether you’re painting an accent wall, swapping out some throw pillows, or adding a vase in this shade, it’s a great way to bring some warmth and charm into your home this month.

Textile Feature: Wallpaper – Brook Perdigon Textiles (Meridians – Natural)

Brook Perdigon Textiles Meridians - Natural wallpaper features a refined geometric pattern with soft, organic edges, giving it a hand-painted feel. The neutral taupe and white color palette makes it a versatile choice for a variety of interiors, from modern to traditional. Its rhythmic, symmetrical design adds depth and texture while maintaining an understated elegance, perfect for accent walls, powder rooms, or layered with other natural elements in a space.

We recently pulled this wallpaper for a client presentation, and it was love at first sight.

The design is subtle yet striking, with a natural simplicity that feels timeless. It’s one of those patterns that can work beautifully in almost any space, complimenting a variety of textures and materials.

Simply stunning…

Here’s a little roundup of some of my favorite pieces this month—perfect for those everyday moments that deserve just a bit of sparkle:

Best Denim and White Tops for Spring

Let’s start with the foundation—your wardrobe. A great pair of jeans and a white blouse are essentials no matter the time of year, but they feel especially right as we transition out of winter. These are the pieces that work with everything, whether you’re layering up now or styling them solo as it warms up.

Designer, Allison Clouser with Clouz Houz, in the creative process—surrounded by an inspiring collection of printed imagery, mood board concepts, and design references. Dressed in a relaxed white button-up and distressed denim, she curates and refines her vision, carefully selecting elements that tell a cohesive design story. Small Business Branding!

I’ve been loving this classic denim that fits like a dream—perfect for casual weekends or pairing with boots for a polished look. This is the best fitting pair I have put on my body to date, And white blouses? You can’t go wrong with this lace-detailed option or this wrap-style blouse for a casual/romantic vibe, or the only white tee you need for a modern, effortless touch. These pieces aren’t just about practicality—they’re about building a wardrobe you feel good in year-round.

Elevate Everyday Essentials with Stylish Towels

Who says towels can’t be part of your decor? This is one of the easiest ways to refresh your bathroom or kitchen without a full overhaul. I’ve been swapping our old guest bath towels for these striped ones, which add just the right amount of texture and pattern. They’re neutral enough to work in any space but feel fresh and elevated. This Turkish cotton set also looks sooo luxurious!

For a touch of softness in the kitchen, this gingham printed dish towel is cute and fresh.

Charming Dinnerware

With spring gatherings on the horizon, now is the perfect time to rethink your tableware. I’ve been obsessed with this strawberry-adorned dinnerware set—it’s playful yet elegant and adds a whimsical touch to any meal. If you prefer something more understated, this minimalist set is another favorite.

A delicate porcelain plate with a whimsical strawberry and floral pattern, ideal for springtime tablescapes.

Both options pair beautifully with simple linens and vintage glassware, making them versatile enough for everyday meals or entertaining guests. I’m eyeing this spiral water pitcher – are we even surprised … I love beautiful tableware! With Easter and Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s nice to start thinking ahead to get your home spring-ready for those special occasions.

Oh – and one more piece I want to highlight that I think is SO cool! It’s this nickel cluster serving tray that I found on Amazon. I’ve seen people do different snack pairings, and I’m already imagining a caviar setup!

These artisan metal bowls are a conversation starter, perfect for serving or simply as sculptural decor for your dining table.

Western Belts

Belts might not be the first thing that comes to mind for spring, but hear me out. A well-made belt can completely transform an outfit. Right now, I’m loving this Western-inspired belt that’s only $20—it’s bold but not over the top, and pairs perfectly with jeans or cinched over a flowy dress.

A bold western-inspired belt featuring intricate brass buckles, adding character to any outfit.

For something more subtle, this brass buckle belt with sand suede is a go-to. And croc is also a classic! A black belt will never fail you, but this one is a bit more unexpected.

Romantic Touches for Your Home + Life Refresh

A curated mood board for The February Edit: Romantic Touches, featuring soft, feminine, and cozy home decor elements. Set against a warm Mocha Mousse background, this collection includes delicate glass candlesticks, ruffled bedding, a scalloped pendant light, and a skirted accent chair—each piece chosen to bring a refined, romantic charm into the home. Small yet impactful details, like patterned lampshades, vintage-inspired pillows, and illuminating skincare, elevate everyday essentials with a timeless, soft aesthetic perfect for transitioning into spring.

Here’s where the magic happens—adding those little details that bring warmth and charm to your space. These are the pieces that work now and carry effortlessly into spring:

  • Ruffled duvet: The perfect way to refresh your bedroom. It’s soft, romantic, and makes your bed feel like a retreat. I have this in our bedroom and I’m smitten!
  • Twisty pink candles and candlestick holders: A simple way to set a cozy, romantic mood in any room
  • Scalloped ceramic pendant light: Swap out a basic fixture for this unique piece, and you’ll instantly transform the vibe of the space
  • Skirted chair: This adds a layer of sophistication and softness to your living room or bedroom
  • Faux hydrangeas: These are a lifesaver for adding color and life to your home, even before spring flowers are in bloom
  • Onyx decorative purse: Unexpected but makes for such cute bookshelf decor! Use as a bookend, place on top of some books, or layer with your other decor
  • Illuminating eye tint: Desperately needed a fresh look now that I am out of the house more often. I’ve been loving that pink under-eye trend for brightening and giving your face some color/life
  • Spiral jug: Try water pitchers for the convenience and style of keeping water chilled in the kitchen and on the dining table

Every item this month feels so true to who I am. I can confidently say I enjoy having some of these pieces around my home and in my wardrobe. Game-changers for making life just a bit more sweet 💞 Happy February!

Sometimes I think about how one hard moment—Derrick losing his job—led us here. To Bend in 2018. To starting Clouz Houz. To doing work that feels aligned with who we are and how we want to live.
If you’re new here, hi! I thought I’d share a few things about us 🐝
1. We moved to Bend from Portland in 2018—looking for space, peace, and a fresh start.
2. We’ve been flipping homes for over 20 years, but we didn’t turn it into a full-time business until just 3 years ago.
3. I’ve been designing homes for 15+ years—starting with friends, family, and our own renos. Now, we work with clients nationwide and it still feels surreal.
4. We’re country folk at heart. We believe in slow mornings, full plates, and building homes you can linger in.
5. We named Clouz Houz after a play on our last name—Clouser—growing up Derrick was “Clouz” by his friends.
6. I’m forever inspired by old houses, antique shops, and the idea that every room should tell a story.
7. And yes—Lucy, our golden retriever, is very much the real boss around here.
