Why Shop Vintage? Let’s talk about it.

I think a home should feel like it has a story-like it’s been lived in, collected over time, and holds pieces that actually mean something. That’s why I always turn to vintage. It’s not just about the aesthetic (though, let’s be honest, nothing beats the patina of an old leather chair or the warmth of aged wood). It’s about the soul those pieces bring into a space.

When I find something vintage that I love, it’s more than just furniture. It’s an emotional investment. There’s a different kind of connection to something that’s already had a life before it found its way to me. I wonder where it’s been, who owned it, what rooms it’s lived in. And now, it’s part of my home’s story.

It’s also a reminder that things don’t have to be new to be valuable. In fact, so many modern companies don’t (or can’t) make furniture the way they used to-solid wood, intricate craftsmanship, details that were made to last, not just to sell fast. That’s why vintage holds its value. It’s not just about cost-it’s about quality, longevity, and artistry.

In this post, I’m sharing a few vintage pieces from our home-things I’ve found secondhand, thrifted, or sourced from antique dealers. Some are statement pieces, others are small accents, but each one adds something that brand-new furniture never could.

It’s funny how life works sometimes. Never in my wildest dreams did I see us doing what we are doing today... running this design + renovate business side by side, as husband and wife. But what I truly believe is that everything happens for a reason. When our life was thrown a major curveball it forced us to reconsider what our future could look like. We “paused” and “pivoted” into a new world that we couldn’t imagine. But after taking the leap of faith and moving away from our hometown we have realized that life can be sweeter than you ever imagined. And although it hasn’t always been rainbows and unicorns, we have made it... and yet, I feel like we are just getting started! Ha! At 52 that’s something I can feel pretty damn proud of.
So here’s to going places you never thought you would get to ... and then some. ✌️
